Amber Eyes Jewellery – Photoshoot with Mayumi Suzuki
A couple of months ago (in early Spring) my friend Mayumi and I went out to Nogawa Park in West Tokyo for a photoshoot. Mayumi is an amazingly creative photographer, and she mostly shoots with film which gives her photos a mysterious, mystical quality. You can see more of her beautiful work here: mayumi-suzuki.com
My jewellery is all inspired by nature so I wanted an outdoors photoshoot. Some of our styling ideas were: natural, bare feet, fantasy, fairytale, mysterious lighting, flowers, floaty dresses, pops of red, interesting leaf and tree shapes… We gathered some inspiration photos so we both had the same idea in our heads.
In early Spring we went out to Nogawa Park, a big park in West Tokyo. The park was quiet, sunny and full of trees – the perfect location! We started shooting the feather necklaces with my pale pink floaty dress, in locations with interesting lighting. After this we found an ancient tree with amazingly-shaped roots, and I changed into my red dress to shoot some of the crystal necklaces. The final location was under a beautiful Magnolia tree, just as the sun was starting to set.
It was a bit chilly wondering around in sleeveless dresses with no stockings on, but it was lots of fun so I didn’t feel the cold too much. Definitely a successful day!
Thanks very much to Mayumi for helping with all of this!
We decided to turn two of the photos into postcard prints, to sell at our first market (Minne Handmade Market) and online.
The photos are postcard-size and printed on matte card.
Thank you for looking!
