Cherry Blossom season was over a month ago now, and I’m re-living it with a series of 4 blog posts! This was my first spring in Japan so I was very excited and took a lot of photos. Let me know which ones you like!
Early Cherry Blossoms
We went to Shinjuku Gyoen the weekend before cherry blossoms were meant to start appearing. It’s been quite warm so there were around 20 trees already fully bloomed. The park wasn’t too busy and we went near closing time so it was the perfect time to slowly wander around taking photos.
Blossoms by the pond
The best part was a beautiful pond with an overhanging cherry tree – very tranquil and peaceful. There weren’t too many people so I got some great shots.
My favourite is this one, peering through the blossoms to the pond and Rob in the background.
My first Sakura in Japan!
I recommend going to Shinjuku Gyoen anytime during Sakura season. I’ve heard it gets crowded with tourists during prime viewing days, and you’re not allowed to bring alcohol in to have a hanami party – but other than that it’s a really nice spot.
Have you been to Japan during Sakura season? Where were your favourite places? Let me know in the comments…
