Today I’m reviewing the Mango Seed silk eye cream from The Face Shop (Korea & global stores). I’m currently living in South Korea so I have access to a lot of different and interesting beauty products.
The Face Shop
The Face Shop is one of my favourite stores – not only is it very close to my work (for regular visits) but it also has a lot of variety and great quality products (skin care and cosmetics). A few months ago I received some samples of the Mango Seed skin care range and tried it on my super dry winter skin underneath foundation. It’s quite thin and goes on very smoothly and evenly. It worked really well to keep my skin moist. I didn’t buy the full-size product because I already have too many moisturisers but I will get it at some stage.
Mango Seed Eye Cream
I’ve been experimenting with under-eye creams to make my concealer less dry. I popped into The Face Shop and was very happy to find they have a Mango Seed Silk Eye Cream.
I really love mango because it reminds me of growing up in South Africa and drinking mango juice on hot days. I’m not sure why I’d want to put it on my face but hey, the packaging is pretty!
On the back you can read a little more about the mango seed – it is great for moisturising because it is “A magical seed that can survive in barren, hot climate for over one hundred years”. I don’t know if this is true, but it’s a nice story anyway. It’s also supposed to be anti-wrinkle, which is a bonus in an eye cream (even if I don’t need it yet!)
I have very dry skin so I have to use moisturising products all over my face. My driest area is around my eyes so I’m always looking for a new eye cream. Over the last few days I’ve used this cream under my usual Mac Pro Longwear Concealer and it works a lot better than my previous eye creams. It’s quite thin and it goes on very smoothly, but moisturises very well. It also smells great when you first apply it (sweet and fruity). I’m very happy with this cream so far, because I’ve struggled to find an eye cream that lets my concealer go on evenly without cracking or drying. It’s also quite cheap (20,000 won, NZD$22) and there is a lot of product. Will definitely be re-purchasing! I want to try more of the Mango skin care range too.
I bought some other things and spent over a certain amount, so I got a free gift: body wash and body lotion from the Green Tea range. I love all the free stuff (or “service”) in Korea. Don’t know how I’m going to live without it when I get back to NZ.
As well as the free gift, I got the standard sample products. They always come in such well-designed packaging that I never want to use them!
Where to buy:
If you would like to buy this product, The Face Shop has many global stores (including one in Auckland) but the products cost a lot more! You can also purchase on the Korean site, GMarket. Make sure to choose one of the sellers which offer worldwide shipping. It’s also usually cheaper on GMarket than in store so you get some good deals. If you would like more info on how to purchase through GMarket, please let me know. I have used this site many times (though not for international shipping).
